Just hours after fellow judge Mariah Carey announced her exit, Nicki Minaj also confirmed she won’t be coming back to “American Idol” next season.
On Thursday (May 30), the “Starships” songstress took to her Twitter page, writing, “Thank you American Idol for a life changing experience! Wouldn’t trade it for the world! Time to focus on the Music!!! Mmmuuuaahhh!!!”
Making the news official, FOX also released a statement, saying, “Nicki Minaj is a superstar who brought a level of honesty and passion to ‘American Idol’ and who had a tremendous positive impact on so many contestants this season. Given her extremely busy career, we understand and respect her decision and wish her the best.”
As previously reported by GossipCenter, Carey and veteran judge Randy Jackson have both decided to leave the show while it is still not confirmed if Keith Urban will be back for another season.
According to various reports, the country stud is not expected to return but it has been hinted that Jennifer Hudson may take a spot at the judge’s table next season.
She got her start as one of the top 8 finalists on Season 3 of “American Idol,” and now Jennifer Hudson
may return to the floundering talent show as a judge.
According to an inside source, the “You Pulled Me Through” songstress has already received an offer from the FOX show, though nothing has been officially confirmed.
Given the sagging ratings during Season 12, “American Idol” is set for a total overhaul including the judges’ table and the format.
And with Randy Jackson, Keith Urban, Mariah Carey, and Nicki Minaj all making their exit, Hudson would have a clean slate waiting for her.
NEW YORK (AP) — Ratings for the "American Idol" finale plunged to a record low for the 12-year-old show.
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Candice Glover was crowned the new "American Idol" on Thursday after defeating country singer Kree Harrison.
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Randy Jackson isn't sure which budding diva will take the crown on "American Idol."
After earning record low ratings this season, the producers of “American Idol” have decided to clean house.
While keeping host Ryan Seacrest, judges Nicki Minaj, Randy Jackson, Mariah Carey, and Keith Urban have all been axed.
The last judge to call it quits, Randy Jackson, told E! news, “Yo! Yo! Yo! To put all of the speculation to the rest, after 12 years of judging on American Idol I have decided it is time to leave after this season. I am very proud of how we forever changed television and the music industry. It’s been a life changing opportunity but I am looking forward to focusing on my company Dream Merchant 21 and other business ventures.”
On Monday, Fox will announce its new fall lineup to advertisers, and is expected to confirm the departure of the four judges.
“American Idol” fans were shocked by Angie Miller’s elimination on Thursday – as was the 19-year-old contestant.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Jackson out.
LOS ANGELES (AP) — "American Idol" finalist Angie Miller won't be tickling the ivories on this season's final showdown.
Usually it’s the contestants who worry for their future, but it seems the judges over at “American Idol” may all be getting the axe once Season 12 is over.
An inside source claims that Nicki Minaj, Keith Urban, Mariah Carey, and Randy Jackson will all get their walking papers given the show’s dwindling ratings.
“All four are gone. They feel they’ve lost their core audience and they want it back. No more big checks for divas,” stated the snitch.
And the house-cleaning trend doesn’t stop at the judges’ table- producer Nigel Lythgoe is also said to be getting the boot as well.
