“American Pie” sweetie Mena Suvari’s divorce from former husband Simone Sestito will soon be finalized without any promises of paying each other spousal support money.
Sestito, who is a concert promoter by profession, had previously demanded a monthly payment of $17,151 from Suvari in case of their divorce, but he won’t be getting his wish, as according to a report publish by TMZ, the former couple have reached an agreement privately.
An insider close to the matter, told TMZ: “They have amicably resolved their financial differences outside of mediation and court. Neither party will pay the other any support.”
In addition to the massive spousal support demand, Sestito also wanted Suvari to pay him a one-off sum of $10,000 to cover his legal bills. The source didn’t say whether Sestito has withdrawn that demand too or not.
In Sestito’s divorce papers, he had claimed that his soon-to-be former wife earns $750,000 per year, while he is on the verge of bankruptcy. The 33-year-old actress had instantly rejected his demand and told the judge that she is not prepared to pay him anything.
Suvari met Sestito at the 2007 Toronto International Film Festival and the two instantly began dating each other. He popped the question a year later while they were vacationing in the Caribbean, and it was followed by their matrimonial ceremony, which took place in a small Rome chapel in June 2010.
Their happy days lasted just 18 months, as Suvari filed for divorce earlier this year in a Los Angeles court before telling the press: “There are many reasons why things don’t work out and I think at some point you have to acknowledge that and work towards maintaining your own happiness. You have to surround yourself with people who love you and want the best for you. I call this process weeding my garden.”
This will be divorce number 2 for the “American Reunion” star, who was previously married to cinematographer Robert Brinkmann from 2000-2005.
